Gift # 50: Sparrows nest-building

This evening I went out to eat with my mom.  We are in Dayton for the weekend and ate at a Mexican resteraunt near the hotel.  We ate outside since the weather was lovely, and while we ate, we watched a pair of sparrows building their nest.  Location of choice was in the crook of an outside patio light.  Construction materials of choice were feathers and fluff.  It was so fun to watch them with a beakful of feathers, curiously tilting their heads, examining the construction, determining where the next bit should go.  They were delightful and very therapeutic to watch.  I hope they have a very happy home and lots of demanding, noisy babies.

It was all around a good bird day, because at a craft store we stopped in, we found these great cross-stitch patterns. We ended up with 4 great pamphlets of bird patterns, plus a Beatrix Potter cross-stitch adaptation of Two Very Bad Mice and a booklet of wildlife.  Here’s a picture of some of the bird patterns.

I hope you have a chance to enjoy our feathered friends today and that they bring you peace and joy.

Blessings to you,

Sarah
