Autumn typically brings to mind bright, bold colors of foliage changing, bright sky, and orange pumpkins. However, muted hues have a special place in the season too as flowers fade, leaves turn to brown, trees become bare, and fog fills the mornings. This necklace reminds me of the quiet, subdued tones of autumn. I love crocheted and fabric beads and when I saw a strand of beads at Hobby Lobby, I fell instantly in love. When I noted that the beads were 50% off, I knew it was meant to be. In a state of bliss, I made my way homeward, wondering what design would best complement the beads.
I decided on a very simple strand so as not to distract from the textures and color. I threaded the beads on jewelry wire, and crimped the edges around cream silk ribbon. I tied knots in the ribbon to hide the crimp tubes and left the ribbon edges long, so I could tie the necklace at any length. It looks great as a choker with a blazer, or worn longer with a tunic and jeans. I love the slightly sophisticated, but bohemian chic feel of the beads. It is Anthropologie-inspired and the best thing… it was less than $5 to make!
Blessings to you,
Sarah
