It’s officially fall!! Today we say goodbye to summer and welcome autumn. I celebrated the autumnal equinox with my friend at Anderson’s Orchard in Mooresville, IN. THis is a great place where you can pick your own apples and pumpkins. They also sell produce at their store, where you can buy large bags of apples and they also have free apples for sampling. There’s pumpkins, gourds, and indian corn for sale, as well as a variety of baked goods, apple cider, apple butter, and apple cider. The best part of a visit to the orchard is the concession stand. For there you can purchase the elixar of the gods – apple cider slushies. These are the most amazing drinks!! I’d never heard of cider slushies before I moved to Indy, and they quickly became one of my favorite things here. In addition to the slushies, they have apple turnovers, caramel apples, fried biscuits with apple butter, elephant ears, and many other goodies. We had a great time eating snacks and buying apples and pumpkins today. The weather was great -sunny and cool and the perfect day for celebrating the start of a beautiful autumn. We ended the day with a trip to Target to look at the Halloween decorations. Perfect!
“Then summer fades and passes and October comes. We’ll smell smoke then, and feel and unexpected sharpness, a thrill of nervousness, swift elation, a sense of sadness and departure.” — Thomas Wolfe
Blessings to you,
