Over the weekend I made apple galettes from Fall Baking magazine, a Better Homes and Gardens publication. These are a savory galette; the recipe consists of making a pastry crust with grated gouda cheese, then filling it with Dijon mustard, apple slices, and ham. Because I don’t eat ham, I substituted with veggie bacon strips. They turned out very well and were a comforting fall meal. This issue of Fall Baking is full of yummy looking recipes of quick breads, entres, desserts, and snacks all infused with a taste of autumn. What I like best about the issue is that there’s a feature on special produce in season during the fall, what to look for when buying them fresh, their nutritional benefits, and recipes featuring them. It’s certainly worth a perusal and you may find something with which to fill your table, as I did.
Blessings to you,
Sarah
