Gift #189: Goat cheese pesto and downtown adventures

This afternoon my mom and I spent a wonderful time in downtown Indianapolis.  We started at Mass Ave Knit Shop, which is the largest knit store in the area.  We found some wonderful goodies there.  My current favorite yarn for the winter is Chalet, a thick chained alpaca yarn which is as soft as a cloud and just as fluffy.  And it comes in several natural, undyed colors – white, cream, grays, and browns.  Just lovely.

Then we ate lunch at the Mass Ave Wine Shop.  They have the most wonderful, yummy treat – goat cheese pesto with sun-dried tomatoes.  My goodness, it’s soooo good!  It’s enough to serve two people and it comes with a freshly toasted baguette.  They also have wood-fired pizzas and panini sandwiches, but we haven’t gotten past the goat cheese yet.  It’s very savory and the cheese is smooth, creamy, and mild – a perfect counterpart for the basil pesto and tomatoes.

For dessert, we trotted next door to the Best Chocolate in Town shop, which sells….chocolate!  They’re best known for their truffles, but they sell other chocolates as well as gelato.  We bought a few of the seasonal truffles – pumpkin pie and cranberry sage.  They are a delicious treat.  Then we explored more of the shops of Mass Ave.   We visited Silver in the City, which sells home goods and gifts.  They were decorated up with seasonal Christmas items.  And we stopped at Crimson Tate Fabric Shop.  They had a nice selection of modern quilting fabrics.  They had some great prints from Japan.  I bought a few quarter yard cuts, they are hopefully to become headbands.

I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend too!

Blessings to you,
