To celebrate the first of Dec, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite ornaments with you. Opening up the ornament boxes each year is very exciting. It makes me so happy to see all the familiar friends. Some I’ve loved for as long as I can remember, others are new additions to the collection. All of them have stories and bring back happy memories. Today’s ornaments were my Nana’s. This little angel sat on her Christmas tree for many, many years and is one of the first ornaments in my memory. I was fascinated by her gossamer gown and little pipe cleaner arms. When we moved to Colorado my Nana gave us some of her ornaments and this is the one I asked for.
The following two ornaments were ones that Nana made. She did lots of porcelain and ceramics and one of her favorite things to do was decoupage little pictures from wrapping paper or tissue paper onto ornaments. And then she would frost them with a glittery snow. She gifted my family with several of these through the years and these are two of my favorites because I love the little mice.
My Nana’s been gone for two Christmases now and I miss her most at this time of year. She was always baking cookies and special meals and enjoying having her family all together. Seeing her ornaments on our tree keeps her memory close.
Blessings to you,
Sarah
