Well in spite of the snow on the ground, the Easter cards have gone out in the mail, and with them blessings for a wonderful Resurrection Sunday. I love Easter – it’s a very special time for me because my family always celebrated it quietly and that allowed for a great deal of introspection and thoughtfulness about the importance of the day. I also love Easter because it’s a seasonal celebration, like Thanksgiving. What I mean by that is that the earth mirrors what the day teaches to our souls. Thanksgiving occurs in the fall when the earth is full of bounty, newly harvested crops, and rich color. Creation overflows with plenty. In the same way, creation celebrates Easter too. The earth is coming alive, flowers are budding, trees are leafing, birds are building nests, and animals are welcoming their new little ones. All of creation celebrates the gift of life. I like for my Easter cards to reflect the emerging life that we see in creation because that’s what we rejoice in too. We celebrate the glorious inconceivable reality that our God had overcome death and invites us to share in everlasting life with Him.
Blessings to you,
