Gift #398: Ripe tomatoes

Yesterday I picked some of the first tomatoes from the garden.  Oh, it smelt heavenly! There is nothing to equal the pleasures of homegrown tomatoes.  They taste so much better and there’s something infinitely rewarding about growing and harvesting your own food.  I always think of God’s command to Adam when He placed the first man in a garden and told him to tend the garden.  Even though a lot has changed in our world since the first perfect days in Eden, I think growing plants and caring for animals is among the most satisfying, blessed ways to spend one’s time and energy.  And when you hold a fresh, ripe tomato in your hand and smell its sweetness, I think you’ll be inclined to agree.

Blessings to you,
