As promised, I’m back today with more pictures from Eagle Creek. They have a long walk around the lake and bird reserve. The majority of this walk is actually on a path that has been built up in the middle of the lake. It’s rather hard to explain, but there’s a trail that crosses through the lake and people fish from either side. Along both sides of the embankment vegetation provides nesting sites for birds and the wildflowers provide a source of nectar for the insects. While we were walking we saw lots of dragonflies and damselflies flitting along the shallow eddies and the vegetation. Most of them were shy and had a short attention span, darting off the moment I got my camera out. However, these dragonflies were otherwise preoccupied and didn’t mind me getting close with my lens. Aren’t their wings amazing?! Though you can’t quite tell in the picture, the wings have an iridescent quality to them that is mesmerizing. They were beautiful!
Blessings to you,
Sarah
