Gift #437: City Garden

While milling about downtown today, my mom and I came upon an unexpected pleasure.  We walked by one of the local restaurants on Mass. Ave called R Bistro and noticed that they had a little patch of green – a local garden where they grow the produce for their menu.

There were flower bed full of herbs and vegetables.  I especially loved the lettuces.  And one of the raised beds was made of a hollowed-out tree trunk.

And, joy of joys, they kept bees!  They had a couple of hives in the back and I stood there for a few minutes enjoying the sound of bees humming.

It was really neat to see a lovely little garden right in the middle of downtown!  And I’m glad that this restaurant is making an effort to raise their own produce and support local suppliers.

Blessings to you,
