“When all the world appears to be in a tumult, and nature itself is feeling the assault of climate change, the seasons retain their essential rhythm. Yes, fall gives us a premonition of winter, but then, winter, will be forced to relent, once again, to the new beginnings of soft greens, longer light, and the sweet air of spring.” – Madeleine M. Kunin
On the eve of spring, anticipation is in the air. I can’t wait for the soft greens of tiny leaves as they unfurl from their buds. The days will shimmer with sunshine and the fragrance of flowers will hang in the air. Butterflies will become familiar friends once again and bird song will serenade. The coming of spring is full of delights for our senses, as are each of the seasons. I love the transition period where the weather changes, never quite sure whether to hang on to the current season or embrace the new. I made these two cards yesterday to capture the joyful anticipation of spring.
They will also be submitted to a magazine for publication in a few weeks time. Both of these cards are made with sticky note sets by Cavallini. This company makes lovely stationary items from vintage prints and themes. I love everything in the bird and butterfly categories and have a mini collection of stamps, postcards, file folders, and notebooks. The sticky note sets were perfect for the featured card sketch challenge. I used soft, watered-down color palette reminiscent of the lovely spring days I hope we’ll be enjoying very soon.
Blessings to you,
