GIft #612: Earth Day

Happy Earth Day everyone!  I hope you all were able to spend some time today enjoy the beauty of creation.  There’s a brand new tree spending the night in the garage (it’s supposed to frost tonight) and it will be making its home in the backyard.  It’s a weeping pussy willow.  I’ll post pictures soon.  For my blog post today in celebration of Earth Day, I decided to post a few nature-themed cards that I’ve made.

The eye-catcher on this card is a decorative label from a paper pack, which I stamped with the quote “In all things of nature is there something of the marvelous” by Aristotle.  I kept the background simple since the label is the focal point.  And a flower is the final embellishment.

This nature card features stamps from one of my favorite companies, Memory Box.  They have great images with simple, clean lines.  I stamped the flower and word collage stamp with markers and then overstamped the ferns with multiple shades of green inks.  It’s layered to some patterned papers and a little “nature tag” adorns the ribbon wrapped at the bottom.

Card #3 is one of my favorites of all time cards.  The paper came from the Que Sera Sera collection that I used for Easter.  I stamped the quote ‘Nature is the art of God” and matted it to the decorative paper.  From there, I layered on transparencies, diecut flowers and butterflies, and such to give it a collage feel – almost like a modern take on a curiosity cabinet.  You can click on the photos for a larger image to see details.

May we all remember to touch the earth with kind and gentle hands today and always.

Blessings to you,

Sarah
