Whenever it rains or is overcast in Indy (which is frequently), I always remind my friends and coworkers that Denver has over 320 days of sunshine a year. Today we experienced a day characterized as the “other 45 days a year”. It was cloudy, cool, and threatened rain all day. This wouldn’t have been so bad, after all Denver is entitled to some rain, but this was a mountain hiking day. We brought our raincoats and umbrella, undeterred by the weather.
On attempt one, we got about 2/3 up the mountain before lightening persuaded all hikers to seek lower ground. Once back at the car, we regrouped and decided on the flat, river trail, which is my favorite. We had a few showers, but it was still fun. By lunchtime the weather had cleared and there was a break in the storms, so after a quick bite, we tried take 2 up the mountain again. Towards the end , we were racing the upcoming storm back to the car. I won’t tell you who won, but my pants are almost dry. Even with the rain, it was a lovely time in our treasured park. More pictures to come. I took lots!
Blessings to you,
