Gift #657: Frog Friends

Summer is in full swing and I’ve been enjoying one of the great gifts of this season – frog song in the evening.  The little pond by the deck is just bursting with greeny, glorious froggy friends.  There are six adults spending the day perched on lillypads and surveying their domain.  And there are still gobs of tadpoles floating around, bumping into the sides of the pond.  It’s such joy to watch them!  And it is a great honor that they should have chosen the pond as their home.  I hope they are happy there.  It is hard to get good pictures, or to have any sort of relationship, because as soon as they sense movement or see you, they leap off their lillpads (an impressive display) with an “eeep!!” and disappear under the water.  Consequently, these pictures were taken through the window with the digital zoom so as not to disturb my little froggy friends.

IMG_3776IMG_3778I kind of feel like this guy has his eye on me.  I love having them nearby.  As a famous amphibian once said, “It’s not easy being green, but green is beautiful.”  I heartily concur.

Blessings to you,

Sarah
