Gift #675: Stampaway 2014

There’s so much to share with you I don’t even know where to begin!  Today was so full of special happy moments.  The days have been packed full of activity – there’s so much to experience in Cinci and I don’t want to waste a minute in this wonderful place. The city is very close to my heart.  So today I will share with you the main reason we came to Cinci this weekend – Stampaway 2014.  We went to the preview party last night from 7:30-11pm and then the convention was open to the public all today.  We’ve seen lots of changes over the years we’ve attended this convention.  It’s one of the largest in the country and it’s exciting to have so many vendors all in one place.  We’ve met a lot of really great people and companies (everyone that comes is a small, independently owned family business) over the years.  We’ve made new friends of companies we didn’t even know existed before attending, and we’ve said goodbye to companies that have gone out of business or decided not to do shows anymore.  THe past two years have been difficult for me as some of my favorite vendors no longer come, so I wasn’t expecting a whole lot out of this show.  But it turned out to be a really fun time anyway.  We had some new vendors which were great and saw some that weren’t there last year.  There was plenty to do and to  admire.  This year was unusual in that instead of buying mainly stamps, I bought mostly die-cuts instead.  These are metal dies that cut intricate shapes from paper.  You can use them alone as silhouettes of shapes, or some companies have coordinating stamp sets so that you can stamp an image and use the die to cut it out.  (this is way easier than cutting images out by hand, believe me)

Here’s a look at some of the dies that caught my attention and that will now have a home in my storage bin.  I’m really looking forward to playing around with them and creating many cards.  In fact, I hope to make Thanksgiving and Christmas cards with some of the dies I purchased this weekend.

Here’s a selection of dies from Taylored Expression.  I’m really pleased with the birch branches for making forest scenes.  And there’s a set with woodland creatures to go with it.  Yay!

I fell in love with this set for fall cards.  The quote is beautiful and I’ll be sharing cards made with the set as fall approaches.

Blessings to you,

Sarah
