Only five days till Halloween! There are lots of things I love about this time of year. Halloween is one of my favorite times to make cards – I love the colors, my spooky trees, birds, bats, and gravestones. And yes, of course pumpkins. I’ll let you in on a little secret – I actually make fall and Halloween cards year-round. Don’t tell anyone! This is partly because a lot of publishing deadlines fall six months ahead of schedule, but the real reason is because they are a joy for me and making them gives me lots of inspiration.
So because it is Halloween week I wanted to spend a bit of time making some special Halloween cards. Earlier this fall I had bought a few stamp sets from Red Lead Paperworks – they understand my heartbeat for fall/Halloween stamps! They made two sets with “The Raven” theme, featuring sketched ravens, branches, snippets of the poem, and other fun stuff. “The Raven” by Edgar Allen Poe is my favorite Halloween literature. Just the opening line “Once upon a midnight deary…” sends shivers of delight up my spine. The three cards I made tonight make use of the stamps in a cream/grey/black color scheme. I hope you enjoy them and that they get you in the mood for Halloween. I’m hoping I can entice a raven to stop by my window.
Blessings to you,
Sarah
