I noticed that it’s been a long time since we’ve enjoyed mushrooms on the blog – so we’ll correct that oversight today. Fall is a good time to find mushrooms in Indy because we typically have lots of rain and moderate temps. Spring Mill is a veritable treasure trove for the mycologist. In the past there’s been so many mushrooms and bracket fungi that I can’t get more than five steps without stopping to take another picture.
This year there weren’t quite as many because we went later than usual and it was colder, but there were still some fine specimens if you kept your eyes open.
One of the great pleasures in taking long woodland walks is being on the lookout for mushrooms and acorns. Now granted, this doesn’t make for vigorous exercise since you’re stopping frequently to admire forest beauty, but it’s more soul-satisfying.
Always stop to admire the mushrooms.
Blessings to you,
Sarah
