About a year or so ago I did blog posts each month featuring the artwork of Edith Holden. I enjoyed the passing of seasons as viewed from her paintbrush of the English countryside, so I’ve decided to do it again. This year, we’ll enjoy the artwork of Marjolein Bastin, who is one of my favorite contemporary nature artists. A Dutch illustrator, her work is universally recognized through her partnership with Hallmark. Her work is rich in detail; a feast for the eyes.
I love how her art draws you in, making you feel as if you are looking out your window instead of a painting.
The pictures shown here are from calendars collected through the years. The first two are wintry scenes, but I also wanted to include this one from last year’s January. It reminds me of the verdant lush times to come.
The verse with the artwork says “You crown the year with your bounty” from Psalm 65. A lovely and appropriate verse to start the year.
Blessings to you,
Sarah
