Gift #772: Hyacinths

Look what was at Krogers today!  A planter full of hyacinths, just the right size for table centerpiece.

Beautiful creamy white blossoms full of fragrant perfume!  A couple haven’t bloomed yet, so it will be nice to anticipate more flowers in the coming days.  I think God must love green and white together.  So many plants boast this stunning color combination.  I’ve seen some articles in garden magazines about ‘white’ gardens that only have flowering plants that bloom white.  They are especially beautiful in moonlight, when the white flowers seem to glow from the inside out.

It’s one of my favorite color combinations too.  (by weird coincidence it’s also the colors I’m wearing today).  It’s fresh and energizing, but also imbues a sense of calm tranquility.  They’re the colors I think of for early spring.  I suspect that is because the colors mimic the transition between winter to spring – winter snow melts into white blossoms and green summer heat merges into delicate leaves.

We may have a few more weeks of winter, but it’s never too early to start enjoying flowers.

Blessings to you,
