Gift #789: Quiet moments

The world is full of magical things patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper.  – Bertrand Russell

Beauty is no dead thing. It is the manifestation of God in nature. There is not one object in nature untouched by man that is not beautiful, for God’s manifestation is beauty. It shines through all His works, and not only in those that may give pleasure to man.   –  Annie Besant

Nature gives to every time and season some beauties of its own; and from morning to night, as from the cradle to the grave, it is but a succession of changes so gentle and easy that we can scarcely mark their progress.  –  Charles Dickens

I found this patch of dried grasses and seed pods on the way out of a park a few weeks ago.  I almost didn’t notice them, but I’m glad I stopped for a closer look because they were so serenely beautiful dancing quietly in the cold winter wind.  I love to watch grasses ripple and flow – it’s peaceful and somewhat mesmerizing.  These split seed pods were just as lovely as any flower in bloom.  I’m very grateful for these small moments of grace, when we can marvel at the intricate beauties that God places in the most mundane of places.

Blessings to you,

Sarah

  1. This is absolutely beautiful, and I love your quotations 😉 We share a love of watching dried grasses blow in the wind, and milkweed free its seeds. I hope you’re well 😉 Giant hugs, WG
