Today I’ll share with you some cards I made a while back. The stamping publication where I submit cards has a template challenge with each issue. I usually make 8-10 cards using the layout provided and it’s quite fun to see how many different cards I can make. For this particular round they had also requested Halloween cards. I was quite happy to comply with that request since I’m typically making fall and Halloween cards all year long. However, it’s not really seasonally appropriate to show those at this time. We’ll have to wait on that till the issue comes out. But today I’ll share a handful of the other non-fall cards I created for this submission.
I had fun using a new set from Stampin Up – Four Feathers. I like grouping the feathers together and tying them with twine, as in this card. The word was a die-cut layered over floral paper.
This terrarium stamp is a favorite of mine and I like the bold, graphic look it creates. I paired the stamped image with striped paper and twine. The quote came from a paper pack and I created the little tags with punches and stamps.
“Wonderful Life” was a simple card to create using a few stamps from Stampin Up colored with pencils. Some patterned papers balance out the stamped images and the ripped polka-dot paper gives some texture – this was actually from a paper bag, but I thought it looked great.
You’ll notice some similarities of this card with the first one. I used the same feather set and incorporated the paper scrap I used to cut out the word “hello” for the first card. The negative image looks good against contrasting paper and provides a nice focal point for the card.
I like the way that the cards form a cohesive ensemble together. That wasn’t necessarily planned, but I’m drawn to these colors right now and I guess that came out in my crafting. I’ll see in a few months if the magazine liked any of them enough to publish. Fingers crossed. Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend.
Blessings to you,
Sarah
