Gift #831: May Artist Feature

It’s getting to be the end of the month again!  I don’t know where time is going – this year is flying by!  I hope that you had a good Memorial Day weekend.  Since we’re in the final days of May, it’s time for our Artist Feature.  Marjolein Bastin’s artwork for this month is full of birds and flowers (two of my favorite things!).

Dogwoods and bluebirds are familiar sightings this time of year.  I saw a dogwood in bloom at Spring Mill State Park – it was lovely.  Bluebirds have been busy visiting the feeder picking up mealworms to go.  (It’s in those moments that my fantasies of being a bird come to an abrupt halt.)

Butterflies are flitting about visiting the flowers on the back deck.  It’s so nice to see them flying about again.

I love Marjolein Bastin’s style of painting natural history studies.  She has a great eye for compiling various images together to tell a story.

image This watercolor image of a little bird hiding among the flowers is my favorite of our selection this month.  I love the colors and the soft feel of light filtering down through the painting.

I hope you enjoyed Marjolein’s artwork and that it puts you in a springtime frame of mind.  Take time to savor the beauty of spring this week.

Blessings to you,
