Three Sisters park is one of our more recent discoveries. We’ve been hiking there for about 3 years now. It’s a beautiful forested park with a variety of trails, so you can pick the length of hike and the difficulty level. There’s something for everyone. This time we started with a trail that we hadn’t had a chance to do before. It was a lovely walk through forests and meadows. We saw lots of aspen, which is my favorite Rocky Mountain tree.
The park is known for its magnificent granite outccroppings and we hiked a trail across the Sisters formation, which gives the park its name. This trail passes by several outcroppings before climaxing at the peak, which is itself a thrilling pile of granite boulders.
Each year we’ve come to this park, we’ve had rain. Last year we were caught out on trail when the storm moved in, This year was no different and we had just finished up lunch when the temperature started to drop and lightning and thunder set in. So we had a shorter day in the mountains today, but I’m grateful for the wonderful hike we had this morning.
Blessings to you,
