Gift #939: Scenes of December

In a few hours we’ll say goodbye to 2015 and wait expectantly for a new year to start.  I hope all of you have happy memories of this year that you’ll treasure and that you’re looking forward to welcoming 2016.  As we wind this year down, I wanted to share some wintry scenes from our featured artist of 2015 – Marjolein Bastin.  I love her winter scenes – they are full of life and color and help me remember that beauty is always nearby.

I saw lots of cardinals today so this scene is quite appropriate.  I love cardinals!  There are a couple of pairs that live nearby and keep me company on the deck.  I like to hear their chirping in the evenings as they eat the fallen birdseed.  They are such bright, cheerful birds!

This scene is just enchanting.  Sweet rabbits in an abundance of winter flowers and greenery! Oh, I love it!   I’m hoping our hellebores start blooming soon.  Winter flowers are a special delight.  I’m missing flowers as much as I’m missing leaves at the moment.

And here’s a jovial grouping of birds at the feeder.  That junco and male cardinal have pretty mischievous looks on their faces.  They look like they are relishing those cold days and snowfall.  I’m hoping that I can learn from their attitudes and find beauty in the long days of winter ahead.  I’m sure if I continue to see cardinals around, it will be much easier.

I wish you all a peaceful, joyful New Year and hope that 2016 is full of ordinary miracles for you!

Blessings to you,
Sarah

One of my favorite artists – she does beautiful work. I, too, am missing leaves and flowers. Someone wrote today “only 78 days ’til spring!” Light at the end of the tunnel. 🙂
