The day after I got home from Texas, a wondrous thing occurred. Flocks of hundreds and hundreds of birds descended on the neighborhood, cartwheeling through the sky and performing mesmerizing aerial acrobatics as they swooped from tree to tree. I think they are starlings – but they are still beautiful.
They come through every year in early winter. I was rather afraid that we would miss them while we were in Texas, but there they were! It’s like they are blown in by fierce winds and they settle among the trees, bring them to life. A cacophony of cawing fills the air and it’s wild and thrilling!!
