Yesterday my mom and I took a day trip to Nashville, IN. This has been one of our favorite places to go for the beautiful scenery, numerous home decor and garden stores, two stamping stores, a yarn store, and a bead store. We hadn’t been since before Christmas last year, so there was lots of catching up to do! The gardens are in full bloom and there was even an exhibition of some local farm animals on one of the lawns. (there was also a concert, a chocolate walk, and a food/drink festival going on – very crowded!) Naturally, none of those other events came close to seeing donkeys, goats, and a little black pig out snuffling in the fresh grass.
We were able to catch up with friends in the area, which was nice. It had been a long time since we’d seen them. We’re very close with the couple that own Papertrix, one of the stamps stores in town and had a nice visit with them. And then we got to meet up with another friend whom we hadn’t seen since November. She asked me to design some jewelry for her and I brought down some supplies and samples and we played around with beads for a while, which was fun.
And that brings me to the sad news, which is that the bead store, Silver Fern, is going out of business. The owners are moving away and are trying to minimize the amount of stock, so everything was on sale. We timed our visit well, since they only have about a week left. I’m really sad to see them go as it was my favorite bead store in the state. They had lots of nature themed beads and designs. In fact, they even built a tree inside the shop out of branches and hung jewelry from it – it was really neat. She also sold handmade soaps, dishtowels, knitted scarfs and hats, jewelry and such. I bought a bunch of pressed glass leaves and some other beads which are hard to find. I use leaves and birds in about every jewelry design, so they’ll be put to good use.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you tomorrow!
Blessings to you,
Sarah
